I love the idea of a small print-it would be quite a challenge! Would love to participate.

Themed or not would be fine with me. ☺

Bareners,
I think the idea of a small sized print exchange is excellent. Leicester UK printmakers have an International print exhibition circulating around the Midlands at the moment. You may be interested what can be done with a 10cm x 10cm block. The title of the mini prints exhibition is just right “Small print : big Impression”
Only 3 of the 150 were woodcuts!

Hello,
Still a tad unsure about how to post this to the update. I think I am right in sending it to yourself this way.
Hope so,

Tone

Update showing a print day and the runs of the peacock before the key block goes on. Looks kinda cool without the key/black block but I have to stick to the style for the series.
Hope you like them,

Good Morning Printmakers,

My "Relief" print is almost done -- yeah! Computer is down, so unable to share photos for now.

In Dave's link there are some specific tiny print sizes -- I hope we will use one of these in the tiny print exchange, and Yes I would love to participate and No, no theme.

I've opened an Etsy store and made my first print sale! (on Etsy that is). Lots of fun.

Looking forward to spending time in one of our most rare occasions in Oregon---Sunshine!

Best wishes to all!

ACEO=Artist's Trading Card Editions and Originals: Artist Trading Cards (or

Tiny prints with no restrictions on numbers of participants sounds really good to me, especially because I am just learning to work smaller in printmaking after painting on large canvas. Sustainable living would be a topic we can all relate to. Especially if we all try to use recycled or saved scraps of paper to make the prints. Ruth Egnater

Maria, I love the idea of an unlimited signup for #50. That way we
won't loose participants for #49 as it is already low in number. Also
would be cool to do an anniversary exchange. A mini size would be way
cool. I loved doing the book mark exchange, that was great fun also.
I am still on the road and have been for some time so I could not do
the Japan exchange. Our son in law passed away at age 43 on April 3rd
in his sleep. It has been very crazy for this family ever since. We
have been busy helping our daughter. But on little talented 6 year old
grand son took amazing pics of the Grand Canyon and I have promised to
do a wood block from one of them. That will be my exchange 49 print.
Hope everyone is busy working on it. We are staying here in Fort Bragg
3 nights so I am hoping to start my carving here!

Happy printing and bless all of you with good finances in this tough
economy,
Marilynn

No theme... the size is theme enough...

And I'd like to see an unlimited number of participants for this #50. Being
small isn't quite as much work as larger prints.

Here are photos of a class I taught in Bend, OR a couple of weeks ago...I should
have combed my hair and lots 50 pounds but the prints look good, you will see a
lot of exchange prints here...and note that Multnomah Falls is upside down...
otherwise a good effort.
I just got asked by the local art museum to teach a class in the fall...we will
see if they can get students for this. It is not a quick learn... we did the
Bend class in two days, almost a miracle. The koi fish is Angel Batchelor who
teaches printmaking at PCC (Sylvania) here in Portland and rode over to Bend
with me. We had a great time and I encouraged her to put her koi fish in the
Tsunami exchange so she is busily printing 31 off of 3 blocks...she carved them
all in a little over one day, she was a carving fool!

Diana,
I think you will have to try it...since they recommend it for letterpress it
must have a fairly firm smooth surface... for traditional water-based
printmaking it will depend on the sizing. Give it a go and report back to us

It sound good ecologically ..... but as there is no mention of the PH factor, it is the first consideration when choosing a paper.
I would be concerned about the Promotional copy.... "Awagami Bamboo Paper has a luxurious texture similar to silk"

See if you can get a sample and give it the old hands on test.

Yes.... It is defined as neutral PH if 7,
Here is an good site to get the gen on this subject....

http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/phdiagram.html

Here is another heads up.... I note the length of you url for the Bamboo Paper. It is possible that these long urls can get broken when sent in e-mails. There is a neat solution to this problem....

Go to http://tinyurl.com/ and you will see part way down the page "Add TinyURL to your browser's toolbar"
All the instructions are there,

Your honkin' long site.....
http://www.savoirfaire.com/savoirfaire/Catalog/Categories.cfm?Path=1205G45A549ABA42488A6454A4A6A450A06040441&DebugCat=4

becomes this when using TinyURL.... http://tinyurl.com/5woym9y

Neat eh!

The other actor has suddenly burst onto the stage....what is going to happen? The audience grip their cups of coffee and glasses of wine, in silent expectation. The seagull looks impassively on, she's seen it all before and knows that if a pod of dolphins pass by, the dramatic moment and the audience will be lost.

Besides, it's way past the gull's bedtime!
