Subject: Test Print -- Xmas Card
Posted by: Ellen Shipley
Very rough test print, just to see how the blocks work together. Poor alignment is operator error. ;-j I definitely think it's going to work! Stonework's a little dark, but I think it'll work. Have to work on inking techniques next. I need to make myself some felt daubers. |

Subject: Repetitive Strain injury
Posted by: Georgina
I have been battling a injury sustained through working in my new job and have avoided anything that might exacerbate it, hence no new linocuts despite some recent thoughts and ambitions in that direction. I have been linocutting seriously since 2004 and can say that I have never had a lasting injury from this. I have cut myself about twice and have felt a tired hand and stopped work and had a rest but never damaged myself. Ergonomically good linocutting depends on good position, warm, soft lino and rest breaks, as I do it for pleasure I never push it into pain. Anyhow I shall not be cutting while I have this injury just to ensure I don't delay healing. The physio says I should be able to get back into it within a few months!!!!!! I injured myself at work with repetitive mouse work, lack of awareness meaning probable incorrect posture and lack of rest breaks. So take care not to do damage to yourself at work or while cutting your lino. Incidentally one of the reaasons I use lino is because it is softer than wood, meaning less pressure. Must stop this typing now! |
