What a coincidence, I was just in Guanajuato and worked at Piramidal Grafica! I went with a group from Boston Printmakers led by Karen Kunc. Guanajuato is a beautiful place, I highly recommend a visit. I stayed at Alma del Sol downtown, and the remainder of our group was at Casa de Espiritus Alegre, both wonderful b&b's for artists.
It has been a long time (20 years) since I have seen my professor and friend, Hugo Anaya from Portland State U. What a beautiful studio and town in which to visit and work. It looks like you all had a great time.
My studio is nice and neat for the Open Studio events this month. I can hardly wait to mess it up with wood chips!
Happy carving, happy printing!
By the way when is the next exchange -- is there a theme?

Dear Baren Friends,
I am writing to let you know about long time member (also my mother) Barb Patera’s health. Some of you may know that she has dealt with cancer in the past. It has come back and seems to have the upper hand this time. She started hospice about five weeks ago. I know that she enjoys the people who make up the Baren community as well as the printmaking. I am sure that she would not mind hearing from some of you.
Warm regards,
Kate Patera

Jim Hibbard was also my teacher and friend...I saw him when he was here in
Portland last year as he has a daughter here to visit. I loved the photos, it
was almost like going there myself! His class at PSU is where I met Renee, oh
so many years ago. Thanks so much for these photos April, they were just
wonderful. Printmakers have the most fun!
My best
Barbara
Dear Barbara, Your daughter Kate told us about your illness and I want you
to know how sorry I am. Oh, I am so sad. I love you and your work and wish
you the best. Bea Gold

Dear Barbara,
I join your other Baren friends in sending love and best wishes. I
have so enjoyed your work, in exchanges that I participated in and
those I have viewed on-line. Your amazing women seated in chairs, the
woman leaving Czechoslovakia--and all the other works--continue to
enrich me every time I view them.
