Many thanks to Plannedscapes for the nature printing workshop idea.
I've got to put together a range of ideas for simple drawing and print
related workshops for all ages from 5yr olds to retired people who have no
or very little experience of printing. I'd like to keep all the ideas within
waterbased techniques so that I can introduce traditional woodblock printing
methods.
Has anyone else got any other suggestions?
Thanks, Mark.
Andrew Stone, will you please get in touch with me?

re : fish printing
an old dog of mine brought home a big ugly red fish
one time when we were mussel gathering
i had read about fish printing and decided to do it!
i am here to say
that it can be a very impulsive , easy, and fun procedure,
not necessitating all the preparations described by the others ;-)
i did not salt, or dry, it
or anything-
i just blotted it on newsprint
and rolled oil base ink onto it
i put a redish color on the body
and a darker grey/black on his facial features and fins
i got about 12 good prints before the scales started to come off too much
it printed very clearly .with lots of detail
it was a LUMP FISH
I never knew that what i'd always called
'found object printing' has been dubbed Nature Printing
that's great
-
it is the first thing i do with a new class of any age
present them with an array of odd things with which to print
sliced fruit and vegetables are great
feathers are awesome
almost anything (like a dead mouse or bat from- the cat)
will print an amazing image
have fun...
i got to do my first SOLAR print
at a small workshop in Prospect Harbor, Maine
on monday
even tho the actual SUN didn't come out
the available light developed the transparency onto the plate
and i printed it out
very interesting and simple
