Clive, didn't you wonder (when you watched him roll up the thin
board), why no ink got on that white floor? That was my first
thought. I like the print he made and I cannot imagine that just
walking inch by inch over the board would actually make such a good
print. I notice he did have to re-ink a few areas. Still getting
none on that floor!

I agree Gayle, I have watched it about three times which is quite a record for
me....I too cannot imagine such a good print from walking on the paper...I also
cannot imagine such a clean print, you would have to be so careful not to push
with your toes....at any rate it is an inspiration. Also notice how often he
went back to the inking slab for more ink...this is the single thing that makes
oil based prints work well, many thin layers of thin ink rather than one layer
of thick ink. A hard lesson to learn it seems, but once you have it you don't
forget it. I assume this was dry paper so even harder to print. A lesson in
tenacity and a great video.

Yes, I have viewed this video several months ago and decided to try it on a large 3' X 4' lino cut. Now I weight near 200lbs, and I don't know what the person in the video weight is nor do I know what type of ink he is using or how many days he stood on that print but my results were VERY different! First of all, I used speedball ink and rolled it up so that the ink was a little bit over "medium!" After 45 minutes of very precise moving around using tiny steps in my sox, there was no way my 200lbs. could exert enough pressure to result in a crisp fully black print. However, I did get a crisp black print after 45 minutes using a wooden spoon, on my hands and knees (I also lost about 2 gallons of sweat which is a good thing) . Standing on it didn't work for me at all. The video makes it seem easy but I am thinking there is part of his process that's not shown on this video. Please try it out for your self on a piece that's at least 2' X 2' so you have to work at it a bit and move around, You'll see! Let me know what you find out!

A nice image/print! and I,too,am amazed no ink got on the floor! also
amazed at how he just 'threw on' the paper and got even borders (a
problem for me even with a sort of registration frame I use) - he did
use the baren a bit and the feet didn't just walk but swirled and pushed
around quite heavily - if large the heels could be like barens a fun
video to watch - thanks to Clive for finding it..........

I once had a Sunday school class of ten year olds that created a set
of blocks to illustrate an Indian legend. When it came time to print,
the boys decided on an active method. They stacked their blocks,
then paper on a stool and with a grand leap landed on top. With one
gesture, each small bottom made, for them, a satisfactory print.

Were you really trying, Maurice..??

The online gallery for Exchange #44 (3 Color Reduction) has been updated
with all the images and colophon info. It is a very nice set of prints
with a variety of subjects and some interesting techniques. Many thanks to
all the participants and to our exchange managers Kristine Alder and Mary
Kuster for their guidance. Also thanks to Maria Arango for her web help
and support.

I had fun coordinating this exchange and although I ran into some delays
delivering the packages on time the whole experience was great. I would
highly recommend for others to give it a try. Besides the images and
colophon info I have uploaded a short video to the website on "How to
collate an exchange ....".
Hope you like it, I had fun making it !

Also there is a link that will give you a different perspective by
looking at the exchange by way of a Google Map (map locations are
approximate !).

I have just painted some ply board with shellac. It does not seemed to have dried. Any clues to what is happening??? I painted it onto a non wood item, it has dried in minutes.I am just confused.

The shellac may be too old.  When fresh it dries very quickly, when old it either takes longer or sometimes will remain sticky. 
If you mean the same shellac dried on non-wood but not on the ply board it may be a reaction with a resin in the wood.
