Hey there - Carol, I didn't realize you were in this exhibition. I didn't
have a chance to see it in person. I also had a print in the exhibition:

(scroll down)

Mine was based on a sculpture of a lion-headed eagle from the Early
Dynastic period at Mari. Hare-boy is one of my own creations, and I have a whole
series on him called The Miracles of Hare-Boy.

Robert, 'etching' blankets, even the hard ones tend to push your
paper down into your non-printing areas and give an embossed look. I
use rubber blankets from offset presses and they are great; they have
a wee bit of give but are smooth and uniform in thickness. Most
printers have old ones available; the marks that make them unusable
for offset printing shouldn't show up on your work. A printing house
that does four colour offset would normally have a 26 x 40 press, and
that's a lot of rubber blanket.

I am printing some linocuts on a Conrad Etching Press. I have been using
Arches Cover and 88 paper and printing dry. I would like some
recommendations on what to use for blankets or padding to place on
top when
I am running it through the press.

I'm wondering when the cut off will be made for signing up. Because I may do a reduction print, I need to know the maximum number to aim for. Many thanks!

PetroglyphsPrinted

Grabbed some time this weekend to print the petroglyph block in a brownish color on top of the tea stained background. More layers to come before I overprint the Eliot Bible text.

Subject: Two Posts in One Day?!

Just closing in on a personal goal. I wanted to complete the mantle of the squid in one day and I managed to do just that! It helps to have a driving force behind you when endeavoring on an arduous venture so I highly recommend Respighi's "Fountains of Rome" followed by sprinklings of Tom Waits. "Falling Down" and "Metropolitan Glide" should do the trick.
I had to get rid of all the eye parts and turn the skin into patches. The large pale orb definitely stares at you the whole time you are carving and I have a feeling it will continue to do so until I get to that part and it too will dissolve into a patterned patchwork. That will have to wait for another day.
