Hi, my name is Jerrick. This is my first post! I am a 28 year old male
living in Juneau Alaska. I was involved in my art community through a
printmaker who's work I sold. Her name was Dale DeArmond. She is now
deceased. She was a master of reduction woodcuts and moved to
engraving when age prevented her from working. Her art was the first I
saw that made me think about the word "art" and I was amazed by the
process. I am going to self teach reduction woodcuts to myself. I have
basic questions, as resources here are extremly limited. I acquired a
"proofing press" as I am told. Maybe 100 years old. It slides from
side to side but otherwise non adjustable up or down. I need tips
about using the press. Also how do i come accross blankets for a press?
I am excited for the challenge. I am concerned about adjusting and
registration. I also have a machine that prints on to carbon paper
that was used in a tattoo shop to make the outline to transfer the
tattoo image to the skin. They use deodarant and rub the paper on the
skin and when pulled off, the outline is on the skin. I want to use
this to transfer the image to the block. Any advice?

Has anyone used any paper they can recommend from Hiromi paper in LA? I'm printing Moku Hanga style with waterbased ink and I'm looking for mid weight (90-100g/m2)
sized professional or other hi quality paper for hand printing.
I wrote them some months ago asking about the same and never got a reply.
Since they're having a sale I thought I'd ask here.

Oh, thanks for all the advice and commiseration regarding the mold spots on my paper.
