I've been using Caligo inks almost exclusively for the past two years
and I'm really pleased with them. To be honest, I've never used any of
the more traditional oil-based inks, I thought they are a pain to deal
with when your studio is pretty much the living room. In the meantime
I found out that it's relatively easy to clean them, but Caligo inks
are quite good for my purposes so did not see a big need for change.

I know some people dislike their smell. They are still oil-based, so
they smell accordingly; it does not bother me. Another possible
drawback is the relative limited range of colors. Lately I've been
using some pigment dispersions to mix with their transparent base and
get new colors, and it works well.

I think they are worth a try. However, if you're really comfortable
with your current choice of inks, and the only issue is cleaning, it's
probably better to look into safer/cleaner cleaning products.

for clean up there is one other nifty thing that I find works very
well for me. In the Baja I have a small press that sits in the
garage. There is no running water for clean up in the garage. I have
found that using vegetable oil first and than following up with baby
wipes to be a very satisfactory solution. When my brayers get a
little too nasty from use I take them to the sink and use a good soap
to freshen them from any residue ink. The baby wipes will clean off
most and than if I need to take them into the condo they are not
spreading ink all over because they are pretty much totally clean.
