Carol,

What great idea. It would be wonderful to have a brochure(?) or official flyer to hand out at any shows or fairs that we participated in..... a flyer with the baren logo and information about our international organization as well as an overview of hand pulled printing processes. And I too would pay for this pamphlet.

Georga, you're right. We do have pamphlets about Baren, but they do
not tell about the relief printmaking processes.

...and it would be nice to give them out to university and
college print classes or to post on their bulletin boards!

The baren gets 5% from the mall, but with the wild swing on the dollar sometimes we are paying less or more for something depending on when we get the bill. It is difficult with the change of the money. Japan has a strange system and they charge a lot to receive money that is not in yen. When it is a small amount, under $1000 we send postal money orders in dollars and that works very well. When it is a large amount, as it is with Matsumura-san, we use a wire transfer. My bank allows me one a month at no charge and I take advantage of that. We send the money by wire in yen, because it is very costly in Japan to change it from dollars to yen, but seems to be not much to do so on this end. So we are never exact, sometimes we are over and sometimes we are under the bill and it is adjusted on the next one. Probably not the way to run a "business" but it seems to be working for us.
The website, government fees and bank charges for pay pal and visa are approx $1500 a year, this includes a little to my accountant who does our taxes. We have never owed any money, except $10 to the state of Oregon every year.
We have about $10,000 that we can spend. I am sorry this is not more exact...I can do that but not today as I have to figure out what we owe everyone to give an exact figure. So we have amassed about $1000 for every year. Not a huge amount but still, enough to pay our fees which Dave paid out of pocket for the first 3 or 4 years.
My best,
Barbara

I have gathered from watching discussions that people don't want to look at non printing info on blogs.  I have loaded up some shots of lino which I think is OK and with a warning 'Lino' in the title, but I now want to put some paintings onto the site and get a bit more general.  Should I be removed from the 'blog watch program?  or should I just let the blog watcher include me in the daily update and make the subject matter clear in the title?

My paintings are part of my art practice, but they are really something I do for me and my prints develope from them.  Indeed most prints start off as paintings in black and white on the lino and the cutting is the step that lasts while the painting is cleared away.
