Dear Bareners,

Digests have been going out sometimes as many as three a day, and they
often have no more than three messages on them. What is happening is
that people are including long quoted passages at the top or bottoms
of their posts, and these lengthy posts are triggering Majordomo to
send them out prematurely since these are being read by their program
as containing more posts than there actually are. This, in turn,
triggers Dave's digest program (the HTML version) to send them out
prematurely, too.

If you want to quote a small portion of someone's post, that's fine.
But please check to see what's at the bottom of your message and
delete if you find that the whole digest is there, or if there's too
much quoted material from the post you are answering. You only have
to leave what's necessary to make your point.

ps: Don't go overboard, though, and quote nothing at all. Then we
might not know what you are talking about. :-)

Thanks!!

Hi Jae,
You could try Safe-T-Cut blocks. They are very easy to cut - easier than
lino, and can be cut with cheap lino tools. Of course, you can use
woodblock tools for a better result.

Haven't googled this product, but I think it is readily available.

Take care,

Oops! Too hasty with my previous post - the material's name is spelled
Safety-Kut.

Lets ask in Japan what it is...I think safety cut is
not even close to this stuff...
I will ask and see what we can come up with..]
Do you have a brand name for the stuff in the UK?

I've heard mention of people using smooth flooring vinyl in the same way they
use linoleum. Over here (UK) a manufacturer/brandname is Marleyflor.

3.2mm crops up as a thickness in other floor coverings, so I would guess it's
a repurposed flooring material. You could contact a manufacturer over there
and ask if they have anything untextured, and where their suppliers are in
your region. I had luck buying lino that way from manufacturers, so it might
work for vinyl!

cheers,

I think I've used the vinyl relief material you are talking about. It's blue on one side and green on the other. It cuts just like lino and inks up very well. All in all I liked using it except for one thing. When clearing the little cut bits, they don't break off like lino but stay attached since they are 'plastic'. You need to cut cleanly all the way through. However, it's not a biggie. I mentioned it in my blog back in April 2006, with a photo here: http://theitinerantartist.blogspot.com/2006/04/i-find-i-still-prefer-linoleum-so-am.html.

I got my plates from Faust Ink out of New Jersey: http://store.faustink.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=1882. I am not aware they come in large rolls but, if this is what you are looking for, it would be worth asking.
