Random Question:
I have come across some prints that are stated to be "Monotype and
Monoprint". What is the difference between these two terms. I've seen
simular prints use each term, but I have never seen a print that
listed both terms.

Here's a random answer: A monotype is a unique print, usually made by
painting on a releasable surface such as plexiglas and then
transferring the image to the substrate (paper). A monoprint is a
similar work, but it contains an additional, repeatable matrix, such
as a woodcut or an etching.

Hi Angee,
A monotype is a printed image made from a blank plate on which there
is no cutting, engraving or other repeating information so that when
the monotype and ghost(s)are printed and the plate is cleaned off
nothing remains. A monoprint is a unique print made from a plate or
block (a matrix) which has some cutting, engraving or other
information which is permanent and does repeat and becomes a
repeating part of each unique image. So, technically, you couldn't
have a single print which is a "monotype and monoprint".
