This is for Carol Lyons and anyone else who would like to follow the
links (that were missing in the digest) of the work of Kathe
Kollwitz. I have put the links into the archives. You can scroll
down to Sharen's message (Message 3) and find them:

On the blog above click on "Selling out? Everybody's doing it ", Marissa
Lee, who always does intriguing prints, brings up a subject that hasn't been
discussed-- making reproductions--printouts, She writes about an issue that
we may want to respond to.
We had great fun at April's spring moku-hanga workshop at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, California, this weekend. We produced short editions of two-block prints in two six-hour days, thanks to her excellent instruction and extensive preparation. ...(We didn't have to sand the blocks. We didn't have to measure and cut the kentos. We didn't have to sharpen our knives because we bought new ones, though April did give a sharpening demo. We inspected the interior of several barens, though we didn't have to cover our own. We didn't have to measure and cut the paper.)... She had mini-lessons scheduled on culture, history, methods, several demonstrations, materials, critique, approach to the block--let's see what did I forget? Lunch looking out over the Pacific Ocean with a 130 degree view of the ocean from about 2,000 feet up. And also, I must say that April worked NON-STOP doing a sample printing of everyone's block, just so we could see what it would look like when an expert did it. We were a bunch of happy campers by the time it was over. I have a few photos, but I will upload some if you want me to, or I can send them to you, April, if you would prefer.

Anna Huskey has a correction to my report about April's class in Santa Cruz. Anna says April did NOT print her block for her because she had a headache and left shortly after lunch. However, I did witness April printing several blocks for the students in the class, inlcuding mine. It was all over a very good class.
