Welcome Su,
I don't have the explanation for why we must receive both versions of
the digest, but apparently there is no way to not get both of them.
Just delete the text version (or which ever one you do not need or wish
to keep) and read the other one. I am so adept at the delete key now
that my fingers fairly fly and sometimes I have to fly right over to
the trash and retrieve one version.

Happy Printmaking ~

Welcome, Su! Nice to hear your voice! The digest always comes double, some
technical issue, so you just have to trash the 'old' one.

Su is a wonderful printmaker, by the way, she has done delicate, precise
aquatints, and used one as a basis for the print she did in my class.

I hope I will have a chance to catch up with Mike when he comes east to
teach! I just (finally) went to his website to see his movie of his Kansas
City reception last September. Fabulous prints, Mike is astonishing, the
prints keep growing, (and not just in size!). I have been thinking about his
laser cut technique. Great website!

I will have a show at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Steinhart Gallery April 7
to May 7, during the Cherry Blossom Festival. After ten years of
demonstrating moku hanga at the Sakura Matsuri, when I hung a small show for
a weekend, I was pleased that the Garden has invited me for a whole month in
their main gallery.

I will be teaching this summer at Anderson Ranch, at Frogmans, and (sometime
in August) at Maine College of Art in Portland, info on my website.

Best wishes to all for a surprisingly great 2007!

April

Thanks Barbara,

I will try to see if I can find a copy through my library exchange to check it out I
am looking for some good images of work by the leader of the "movement", though I
cannot recall his name at the moment. I recently saw some of his work at the Met and
at the Annual Printfair (both in NYC). I was blown away by his compositional and
color sense.

Su

PS Still getting both versions of this digest. Can anyone help me cancel one without
affecting the other?

Hi su and Welcome.
I have the same problem with new and old versions of
the forum. So I just delete the old one after
attempting to change to new only several times. I
don't think my browser is compatable with the Baren
format so I read faithfully but the only way I've
found to post is with this email. We'll see if it gets
through.
The people here are generous and encouraging and
friendly so I enjoy this contact even if it is rather
a "be seen and not heard" one. LOL
C.

Hello and new year greetings to all Baren folk!

Welcome all new members and don't forget that participation is key
to...participating :-o

Now, for the awaited Cairn update, some of you have emailed me about your
progress and I always appreciate those bits.
For everyone else, your new year's resolution numero uno:
-FINISH carving the Cairn block! and send to Maria on time for the deadline
which is roughly May 2007

I have about 8 blocks in the stack and I must say that this is going to be
an interesting pile of rocks. Thank you all for your contributions, both in
terms of the block and the growing paper/mailing "nest egg".

Just to review, the information page is here:

Happy carving,
Maria

Hi
I too am using plexiglass but I have been etching into it with an electric engraver and scratching with an etching needle. There's no way to put down an aquatint that I can think of, but it's a very nice, non-toxic material. I did not think of printing it in relief, but of course you can print anything in relief. Does anyone have other methods of making marks in Plexi?
