This is in reply to the problem Carol Lyons is having with her resizing
of images. There is a free image manipulation program called IrfanView,
which has been around for many years. It is simple to use. First, go to
this web site address:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/967963863/1
Click on download. If you are using Internet Explorer it might initially
block the download. If so, then either click on the bar at the top of
the page and it will give you the option of downloading the file.
Otherwise, just click on the the link where the page says:
If your download does not start shortly, click here
Save the file to your desk top. Click on it and then install it by
following the directions. Basically, all you have to do is to keep on
clicking the NEXT button. Once it is installed, you will have program's
the icon on your desktop. Click on it, the program will open. Go to
your image and drag it on to the program screen, or else go to the file
menu and choose your image from the file dialogue. Then once the file
is loaded into IrfanView, click on 'Image', then on 'Resize/Resample'.
It will give you the choice to resize the image in pixels. inches, or
cms. Choose your preference, and then enter the new size values into
the width and height boxes. Or you can simply go the the lower half of
the screen, skipping the top, and choose a percentage by which to change
the image size. Once this is don,e you can save the file. I suggest
you save it under a new name, so as to keep your original safe.
