About the Competition
The Center for Contemporary Printmaking sponsored its first International
Miniature Print Competition in 1997. Since then the Competition has
expanded, reaching artists all over the world. 589 prints from 205 artists
from 25 countries were received for the last exhibition in 2005. The goals
of the competition are to encourage artists to explore the miniature print
format, to provide an opportunity for exhibition, and to enable the public
to observe the creative efforts of artists in the U.S. and abroad.
About the Juror
David Kiehl is the Curator of Prints at the Whitney Museum of American Art
in New York City, a position he has held since 1993. Previously he had
served as Associate Curator in the Dept. of Prints and Illustrated Books at
the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He is widely regarded as an
authority on printmaking and has served as a juror for both national and
international print competitions. As an author he has published numerous
assays and catalogs on artists as diverse as Edward Hopper, Pat Steir and
Ellen Gallagher.
About the Center
The Center for Contemporary Printmaking is a non-profit multi-media studio
and gallery devoted to the creation and exhibition of original prints,
papermaking, photographs, artists books, and related disciplines. We provide
artists with studios, equipment and technical expertise. At CCP artists may
work independently, collaborate with master printers, or enroll in workshops
conducted by nationally recognized artists. Major exhibitions of original
prints are shown in the gallery and diverse educational programs are
presented. An Artist-in-Residence Program, which may be applied for, is held
in CCP's adjacent Artists Cottage.
