Hi Leigh,

I've used the inexpensive Masa for some prints - but the darned stuff
shrinks up & leaves the edges ruffled around
the outside of the print. I'm sure the Masa Dosa from the Mall is good
stuff. Professional Hosho is not sized & although
you *can* use it for hanga - you gotta be really good or size it
first.. Printing dry? You will have better luck with damp
(just cool to the cheek) paper - well, I have no experience with Akua
Color Monoprint inks - someone else may be
able to give you better advice on that.

Isn't BFK Rives Lighweight a white paper? You can use white Stonehenge
or Lenux also - but harder to print with a
baren. Also Shin Torinoko comes in a nice bright white & a cream
color. It's a nice paper (IMHO).

Yup, 10 or 15 proof prints are pretty standard for some of us printing
hanga. (Me, for one)
I buy newsprint & use it for proofing. I'm getting better at it & more
organized. These last
prints(dogs) I actually used several for just the black key block &
then used them one by one
to get the color blocks lined up like I wanted. Like key block &
brown, key block and blue,
key block & pink, key block & yellow, etc.

It is pretty intense stuff - and the more you do with it - the more
intense & demanding you
become of yourself. More like an obsession than anything else. :-) A
fun obsession,
though.
