David - yes I was referring to artpaper.com in Asheville,NC -they'd been v.
obliging and had sent me beautiful samples -I'd been searching for high
quality parchment papers not obtainable here. Is it a great store?? their
mail order prices were good espec. considering the $Cdn
My computer is obviously acting up something awful and constantly makes
mistakes in dating- it awaits new guts.

The Flex cutters for me have good ergonomics, retain a great cutting edge, and come in hand wood cases if you buy the sets.

I too would like to offer many thanks to Mike Lyon for his hard work in
getting the images up for all the recent exchanges. They are wonderful and
a credit to all of the artists who participated. This is a challenging
group to keep up with and how wonderful it is to even try as it only makes
me better and keeps me on my toes!!!

Another vote...
I have two sets of Flex Cuts, a palm set and a standard set. I have added a
couple of my most used v and u (the 2 and 3 mm), and three micros.
Two things I like, no, make that LOVE about this brand: first, the handles
are hands down the most comfortable to work with, large and rounded and
"palm sized", they make Japanese tools seem like you are pushing a stick in
comparison; second, they come to me extremely sharp and ready to cut, unlike
some tools that need initial honing.
One thing I don't like: the usable blade is very short, so after a few years
of use and sharpening, there is no more usable blade.
It does seem as though the steel of the Japanese tools (I have several sets
of those too, so shoot me) is harder, but also IMHO tougher to get a good
edge on although they stay sharper longer. Flex Cuts seem to hone very well
and are more forgiving to creative sharpening styles :-). Japanese tools are
"pickier" and require more attention to detail which comes and goes around
my studio.
Another possibility with Flex Cut is that their travel sets with
replaceable/removable blades also work on their reciprocating tool
attachment. I don't use mine often, but sometimes the clearing tasks can be
greatly sped up with a reciprocating tool attached to the Foredom rotary
engine (the one that scares the cats).
Happy cutting,
Maria

I've had some trouble with a couple of returned roosters, dogs and other
critters.
I am back in Las Vegas at the old address:
2544 Casey Drive
Las Vegas NV 89120-1819
Sorry about that.
Could one of the webmasters change that in the dog page please, I seem to
not have the proper web "keys" any longer.

Thanx for the Flex-Cut endorsement. I really like them. They fit nicely in the palm and cut like butter (at least on Baltic birch).
I am still looking for an exceptional micro v-cut tool tho. I like to use the v-cut tool a great deal for fine detail and I seem to be very picky about them. Or maybe it is because I'm left-handed and the tool seems to have a bias for one side over another.
Or I could be halucinating. ;-]

Hi all!
I have just completed my print for exchange #28 and If you want to have a look here is a link.
http://www.robertviana.com/fish.htm
If you are in the exchange and want to be surprised, DON"T peak.
It is a rather simple and silly image. Not silly, as in funny, but as in stupid.
I chose this for the composition and message, rather than anything else.
title: "Recycle"
12 blocks (cherry planks)
6.75" x 9"
paper: graphic heavyweight
ink: speedball, waterbased
You'll love it or hate it. no in-between. I loathe it.
Cheers, Rob
OOPS!

Way to go Robert! I love this image. I am working on mine this week. I'm
doing a face. Never have done one before so...we'll see.
PS: My father, Dick Wells was in your first exchange from your printmakers
site and enjoyed himself very much.
Thanks for sharing!

I was just putting together my dog cards the address list is 61 .. I
remember someone a while back mentioning that not everyone on the rooster
list sent them out and why should we send to non producers, then a flurrie
of late season roosters flew in , if some still did not send would someone
(if you keep track of these things) send me the a list of them (off list )
thanks(I can't read all the signatures to go down the list and check them
off)

Hi Claudia,
I still did not send however I am going to be sending out my year of the dog print when it is ready..

I thought it was only the TO that had to be right or left handed. The last
one I ordered for the left hand on was sent to me with both sides
beveled. I didn't think that was correct but used it anyway. Actually it seems Ok,
but am I working under an additional handicap?

Hey Rob,
Am getting your posts, and went to your link, and
I like this piece! ("Recycle", Moku Hanga done for exchange #28).
Carol in Sacramento....and no, I'm not in #28, darn it....
Mike,
May I take this opportunity to thank you for putting up all the
exchanges and for your attention to fixing the comments bug. I plan
to get on and send comments to the participantsof the last three
exchanges. Iyts an easy way to view them whether you were in them or
not and comment. Much appreciated. I'm sure I speak for others when I
say your efforts on the web aspect are very helpful to making the
exchanges enjoyable.
Robin
I also did not send out all my roosters as well as several monkeys but
they're all ready to go as soon as the dogs are ready
my problem was committing myself to hand colouring them which delayed me.
