That is at least the 3rd Year of the Dog print I know of with no dog in it.
I sincerely hope that this isn't really a trend! My print will definitely
have a dog and I have been looking forward to seeing lots and lots of others with
actual canines...

Annie F. and all,

My image will have a dog in it too... But, I see nothing wrong with someone who is driven by a theme or something that is inspired by "Year of the Dog" that seemingly has nothing to do with dogs. Sometimes the mind is just curious and we arrive at an image we MUST create with no reason.

It really could mean many things to different people. Such as: a cat on a leash, instead of a dog. Or if someone shows the loss of their dog or longing for one, a man jumping up for a frisbee instead of the typical dog. A mini man on a lap of a dog...

I understand what you are saying. I too am expecting to see more dogs in with this exchange and it is what I want to see. Additionally, I am creatively moved when someone chooses to dart from the typical path.

I also enjoy the freedom of being able to discuss our dreams and differences regarding art too. :)

Merry Christmas!!

Annie,
I will put a real dog print in tomorrow's mail for you instead of my "Upward Facing Dog" with the dogwood blossoms and leaves in the background. I chose not to send this print in the first place because I am afraid that it didn't turn out as successful as I had wanted. I think the dog looks rather kindly and benign. Others have said it looks like Dracula's companion. (sigh)

But today is Christmas, the beginning of Hanukkah, and Kwanza. How could it get any better? I have even managed to keep my orange tree alive through our freezing nights so far! (Of course it hasn't gotten below 25 degrees yet, and it is only the end of December.)

Anyone else want a kindly, benign companion to Dracula? Just ask, and I will send you one also.

Hi Robert,

I received "Upward Facing Dog" and I find it quite intriguing. I hope at
some point there will be explanations (perhaps in the photo files) to go
with all the prints. I'd like to know everyone's thinking on their dog.
