Marilyn, you can test all your pigments for permanance. Take a strip of
paper (the kind you will be using for printing or painting) and paint a
line across with each of your pigments (mixed with your media or just water),
say about 3 x 1/2 inches.
When dry, cut the strip down the middle with half your lines on one piece
and half on the other. Put one half in a south window and the other half in
a dark place. After a couple of months in Mexican sunshine, you should
have a pretty good idea of how long the colors will last.
I check all my artist materials this way including pens and color pencils.
I've found shades of reds as a rule to be the most fugitive. Some colors
show fading in a couple of weeks, even here in rainy Southeast Alaska, and
some completely disappear after several months.
I date my test strips as to how long they've been in the window and save
them for future reference.
Hope this helps.

John Center writes that the year of the Rooster could also be year of the Cock and jokes that perhaps he might send out a card with a shunga theme. Having seen his fantastic contribution to the recent shunga exchange, I encourage John to pluck up courage and show us what he's got.
