I absolutely agree with John. The image is yours to use as you wish. It is very common practice to not only feature a previously editioned print in a book but also to make an edition of an image previously used as an illustration.

In my mind, the most important thing is to always be open and honest about what you do with your image. Problems only occur if one has sold out a limited edition and then, secretly, print another "limited" edition. This is cheating one's collectors and is beneath contempt.

Exactly! disclosure is everything. Say what you do and do what you say.

Bareners of Exchange #19 and #20, co-ordinators and IT specialists.

You have all made my day : your prints are brilliant!
Mike has suggested that we pass on our comments to you individually via the E-form, but alas I'm a one finger, left handed typist and have calculated that it would take me about two days to complete.
So, I would like to thank you all on the Forum for putting in so much effort and, to my thoughts, retaining your own distinct, individual styles when eclectic international styles so much dominate the art world.

Send Message: To this poster

Hello all,
I've put a new print on my website at
http://www.shireenholman.com/shireen10.htm It's a print of Go Players; 3
blocks; oil-based inks. There are many Japanese woodblock prints of go
players, but so far I haven't seen any Western ones. My brother and
brother-in-law have been playing for years, and this is a follow-up to a
print I made of them playing about 22 years ago!

Send Message: To this poster

Dear Bareners,

I'm proud to announce the Sept/Oct 2004 issue of Simply Haiku, a
publication of Japanese short-form poetry and art, is now online at
http://www.SimplyHaiku.com

Enjoy the Japanese woodblock prints of artist and poet, Suezan Aikins,
as well as other art, photography, short-form poetry, essays,
interviews, and book reviews.

Also browse the Archives at Simply Haiku to see the beautiful Moku-Hanga
woodblock prints featured by other artists! Please share Simply Haiku
with as many people as you can to help bring awareness and education of
the beautiful art of Moku-Hanga, other traditional and modern haiga, as
well as Japanese short-form poetry.

I am grateful for this publication to allow me to feature artists who
work in the Moku-Hanga printmaking technique. This is not by invitation
only, so feel free to submit your Moku-Hanga prints to me for
consideration for publication.

Warm regards,
Bette Wappner

Beautiful print, Shireen! Wow! Please tell us about how you produced this
complex color image with 3 blocks! I'm dying to hear (well, very, very
interested anyway -- my health is not actually at risk) about your process!

Hello Bareneers,

Thank you, Thank you, thank you. It was so good to see the work from #19 and
#20. The variety and quality are exceptional.

I am inspired to be 'on point' (as in ballet) for the next exchange.

We are finally having some fine studio weather here in Oregon, it has been
raining now for days!

Cheers!

Shireen,
This is a wonderful print. Congratulations!

Renee,
I second your idea of fine printing weather...I love rain. But it did seem strange today to have to hunt up a coat after our sudden weather change.

Thanks Mike for putting the exchanges on line, for some reason the slide show is not working for me and it used to. Is there something I am doing different with my computer?
Do I have the settings wrong? This is an old brain trying to do young things...rats. Computer 2, Barbara 0, as usual.
Best to all,
Barbara

DEAR FRIENDS.

I just browsed the "Shunga" exchange, and I just want to say that I was
very positively impressed in the way everyone of the participants assumed
the theme.
There is a great variety of styles, conceptions, even some in a very
contemporary venue.
I want to congratulate to every one of you participants, for using this
forum as a "free speech space, which finally demonstrates the positive
energy of this forum.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm assuming that copies of the original
engraving would be a "reproduction"?

thanks again,
emma

hello--still like the printmaker idea, whether it be inspired by or
reflection of...As to the andy warhol quote: i could only prefer --oh
dear, who said it?--the free speech twist on that one--ie, warhol as
machine, machine as warhol--or whatever. the poem is good, though not
unlike the previous haiku theme...
All, always good ideas, and uh, food for thought...good thing we can do
them all, eventually....
Just my jumbled, humble
opinion...Aimee
