I so agree with you. I also feel that if the early 'masters' had access to scanners and photoshop software and solar plate, etc., etc., they certainly would have used them...

Well, I am just wowed to the inth degree by all of you, Mike, April,
Sara, Ray and everyone! Congratulations to all of you. Having a summit
in Tokyo sounds like a winner to me!
Meanwhile, in a quiet, but rainy, corner of the Northwestern USA there
is a little printmaker (me) building matrices rather than carving them.
There is still some carving, but mostly I'm using a scroll saw, chop
saw, sander and wood glue. It is very much like a cross between
building blocks and puzzles. Then they are printed moku hanga. What
an experience! You can see a show of these prints at:

If you're in the neighborhood on the 2nd come to the reception from 5 -
8, or on the 3rd from 5 - 9

April, You have to go to Kyoto! Kyoto was great- I loved so many of the
temples.
I was in Japan visiting my brother last March. I am sure I am going to
shock the baren forum members by writing this but I really didn't go out of
my way to see any prints. I purchased some from a small gallery in Kyoto
that I found while walking to a Temple. I'll have to pull out my notes from
Japan to remember exactly where I went. Tokyo was a trip but so crowded and
a very different scene. We cruised down Tokyo's streets in my brother's
Japanese teacher's son's Cadallic. His parking is as expensive as his rent
in Tokyo. That was strange. Travel between cities can be really expensive.
We got a train/rail pass before we left the U.S. I hope you have a great
time. I really enjoyed my time there and wish I could get back there before
my brother moves back to the states in August.
