This message is for people who are reading the [Baren] postings in the Digest version ... You may have noticed that you are receiving two Digests this time ... What's going on? Well, at long long long last, we're finally making a listserver alteration, and are going to start to bring you _readable_ Digests. We've been preparing 'scripts' that parse the postings made to [Baren], removing much of the extra HTML and other unwanted material, and leaving just the essential content of each message, and have them now ready for use. But we haven't yet figured out a way to stop the Majordomo server from sending the old type of Digest as well, so for the moment, Digest subscribers will receive both types - the old unreadable one, and the new readable version. The Subject lines will be clearly marked though, so just hit the Delete key for the old one please. Apologies that we haven't managed to do this sooner ... the Digests have been _so_ awful. Reading [Baren] should be a much more pleasant experience from now on! Several people have orders in for them, but they are not getting them any time soon. We will send the rest of your order and send the baren covers when and if we can. If you are desperate, you can order them from McClains printmaking supply. I talked to Alex Prentice, the owner of McClains, this morning and she has 50 in stock. As much as I hate to send business away from the mall, you cannot print withoug a baren. Her address is www.imcclains.com The covers are a bit more money, but the shipping will be less. She also has all-shina plywood and as it is in Oregon already, the shipping is not bad. She turns orders around in a day and sometims I have it the very next day, so her speed is remarkable. Be sure to have her send you a catalog. On another note, if you order from the mall and do not receive you order within two weeks, please let me know. I try to stay on top of stuff here, but I am busier than any three people should be. I do not mind checking on an order. Once in awhile I fine I did not get it for whatever reason. This has only happened three times in a year, but if it is your order it is 3 times too many. Occasionally a visa will not go through if it is a large amount. I have learned to wait a few days and try again. For whatever reason, they eventually all seem to go through and all is well and no one even knows there was a slight problem. This can delay an order a few days. Sadako Ishizaki is our translator in Japan and without her the mall would just be a mess and I would be stark raving mad. She has been such an invaluable help as a go between with Matsumura-san.She solves every problem with speed and grace. If I could send her a hug over the web I would. She is truly the unsung hero of the Baren Mall and I know she would appreciate our thanks. Best to all, Barbara Mason Mall Manager _________________________________________________________ Message 3: From: Wanda Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2003 11:55:47 -0800 Subject: [Baren 23352] Re: New Baren Digest for Wednesday, 12 of November, 2003 Lezle wrote: >I am trying to remember the Japanese printmaker that has been discussed >here before - I believe that he did prints in the 1930s (+) era and they >were modern-looking, calligraphic animals with large flat areas that >emphasized the wood plane. I also love his landscapes - especially when you can see them up close & personal. Congrats on your sales! What a nice warm feeling that gives you, huh? And your work is wonderful - you deserve it.
