Baren Digest Saturday, 8 November 2003 Volume 25 : Number 2434 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "April Vollmer" Date: Fri, 7 Nov 2003 23:44:12 -0500 Subject: [Baren 23314] Traitor Yes, count me a traitor! I made Monoprints!!! Here's a report on the Monothon at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, photos are at: www.aprilvollmer.com/monothon03 We had a great time in South Norwalk, the "four Musketeers" are me, Susan Rostow, Judy Mensch and Barbara Landes. We all drove from NYC together to help in the Monothon fundraiser. I was especially happy that the Monothon happened during the fabulous woodcut show they have up now. The first photo on the web page is me in front of my print at the opening of "Ink from Wood" which also included such woodcut luminaries as Paul Furneaux, Karen Kunc, Georg Baselitz, Alex Katz, Jim Dine, Sol Lewit, Chuck Close and our own Mike Lyon. (curated by a lurker!) We had lunch in the gallery: you can see some of the prints in the background. So we did have some woodcut content, in spite of the focus on monoprints. The woodcut show comes down at the end of this week to be replaced by a monoprint show. The reception for the Monoprints will be November 21 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. I've gotten very interested in the bookbinding press discussions as you won't have the problem with wet paper stretching out of registration that you have with the etching press. There is a good possibility that I am going to need one or two more people to submit prints for exchange 18. I will be giving the two missing participants until November 9th to contact me , But if they do not respond I would like to know if there are any of you that could submit prints by Nov. 18th. Please let me know who could meet that deadline. I will take volunteers in the order they signed up and notify you by Monday November 10th if you will be needed to send in prints. Thanks for all your help. Gilda P. S. This is a great group of prints you wouldn't want to miss. Lezle Williams Julio Rodriguez Sharen Linder Mike Lyon Daniel L. Dew Barbara Mason Carol L.
