Me, too, Georga!  

This morning the group planned a trip to the Spencer Art Museum
that holds the Baren Archive prints, in Lawrence, KS. Steve
Goddard was hosting that tour, and had a special Japanese Print
exhibit available in the galleries.  <http://www.ku.edu/~sma/>

If you think of it the right way, today our prints are with
them, at least!  

I keep seeing folks taking photos!  Wish they'd put a few online
for us.  The web cam is so much better than nothing, but it
reminds me of the 'lunar landing' photos when it comes to
actually seeing individuals and what they are doing.  Probably
it's just wanting to be in on the action, which is hard to do
from such distances!

We are just now returning from a FABULOUS morning at the Spencer Museum to 
see Cory Sherman's show, "Influenced by Japan" which includes a number of 
beautiful Japanese and Western prints including some by participants in 
Baren Exchange #15 (all-hanga exchange) and a beautiful Gakutei surimono 
alongside the reproduction print by David Bull.  Wonderful exhibit!

The Spencer had a special exhibit of prints and blocks for us to see in 
their print study room, including a large cherry block which had not been 
identified.  Steve asked David Bull to take an look at the block and give 
his opinion.  After a minute of study, Dave said it looked like a Paul 
Jacoulet and explained why...  The western symbols, the light yellow 
swastika carved on one side and a darker yellow swastika carved thinner on 
the other -- a typical Jacoulet technique according to Dave -- and other 
characteristics Dave recognized as well.  He thought the block was from a 
series of four women in oriental dress.  A Jacoulet reference book was 
eventually brought up from the museum library and...  VOILA!  A photo of the 
print pulled from that block was discovered!  Pretty impressive piece of 
work, Dave!

Steve Goddard, Spencer Museum's print curator, had arranged an Indian lunch 
for us and now we are just returning -- so take another look at the Baren 
Summit webcam at http://mikelyon.intecam.com ---  WE'RE BACK!

Although we only met Jack once, we felt enriched by our brief association
with him and you.  You were so gracious to both of us.  A school psychogist
has such a tremendous responsibility and such a great ability to bring
happiness and order to the lives of children and their parents.  I enjoyed
