Thanks for the reply on the Nude Calendar. Hmmmm, a nude Portrait Exchange, that would be a first ( maybe a last) See you in Oz Jeanne N. ------------------------------ From: Jsf73#aol.com Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 13:52:41 EDT Subject: [Baren 21500] Re: Calendar-2004 - Nudes question Hi everyone, I hope you are all as excited as I am in anticipation of the summit! Just a note, as part of my fine arts photography course students were required to complete a nude self portrait before they were allowed to photograph nude models hired by the department. That teaches you to appreciate the other side of the coin. Now I have a question, I am working on a few designs to carve before and during the summit. I hope to have a simple design completed to attempt to print. Mike you had mentioned perhaps being able to buy some supplies there. Have you heard if any supplier has confirmed whether they will attend? While I have all the supplies needed to carve blocks, I have no printing supplies. I suppose I could order some from Baren mall and have them delivered to Kansas city. What type of suppliers were you thinking of having attend, just so I know who may be there. thanks, John Furr. ------------------------------ From: Mike Lyon Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 12:54:30 -0500 Subject: [Baren 21501] Re: Calendar-2004 - Nudes question At 01:52 PM 5/14/2003 -0400, you wrote: >Mike you had mentioned perhaps being able to buy some supplies there. Maybe Barbara will bring some supplies with her? Paper? Tools? Colors? Etc? I am committed to giving two lectures at a conference that conflicts. Sounds like a wonderful time ... hopefully I will make the next one. Cheers ...... Take notes and pictures and post them for the rest of us who can't be there, if and as you can... and enjoy yourselves and one another. I am so happy this is happening... I go do dance related gathers similar to this, and come away incredibly enriched and soul-fed. Kudos to Mike for organizing this! with all delight, Ruth Temple ------------------------------ From: Julianne Date: Thu, 15 May 2003 14:54:02 +1000 Subject: [Baren 21504] inks I have a question - I am in the middle of printing an edition - so far I have printed two layers of oil based offset litho inks (phew what a smell). For the 3rd layer I had planned to use a silver seritone ink - a screen printing ink? I then plan to put another layer of litho ink over part of the silver. The silver has a couple of red flammable stickers on it - it's not water based. However as it doesn't actually state 'oil based' on the label, will it be OK to print it over and under oil based litho ink? I just opened up the lid and all the metallic must be on the bottom somewhere as it just looks (& smells) like a clear turps based varnish on top. (Recon I'll wear my mask printing this one). So my question is can anyone forsee any problems? I'll give it a go anyway, but I'm hoping the silver will sit on top of the layer beneath it, and not melt and blend with it. Then again maybe that may look nice. It looks pretty runny. The silver is colorjet seritone matching system, metallic, made by Collie Cooke Consolidated, Australia. I also have some old silver powder I fancy sprinkling onto the wet silver ink. It looks rather grey in the container, but seems to look fine spread thin. I guess I just sprinkle a bit on, swish it about a bit & shake off the excess? May-be I should spread nylon stocking over the top of the container & make a shaker. Any comments appreciated Julianne ------------------------------ From: Barbara Mason Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 22:49:58 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Baren 21505] Re: Calendar-2004 - Nudes question One never knows...it will be a surprise....but it could be a little more of a given if people let me know what they might like to see......
