Dimitris, participation in creative mathematics and the arts should be 
interesting.  I have long told people who do not understand the arts well, 
the visual arts and even music, that there is a strong mathematical 
correlation.  What an artist puts down on paper, canvas or elsewhere is 
visual and thus spatial.  It must have a certain balance, just as music has 
a certain rhythmn.  Just take a look at the art of Escher to find an example 
that relates, at least to me, the correlation to mathematics.  To teach 
mathematics in a creative way is wonderful to see.  My daughter all but 
failed math in her early schooling and than found she actually is very good 
at it and became a teacher specializing in math and science in elementary 
school.  What she learned is that each mind learns in its own way.  Her mind 
understands math and science but not in the way it was taught to her in 
grade school and hgh school.  To explore ways to teach students in creative 
ways that reach more and let students see the corrleation of mathematics and 
the arts is a way to open minds.  Yes indeed there are gifted students who 
are not understood! Thank you for sharing this new adventure of yours.

Bea, I have not used the color intaglio inks yet.  I know that Barbara has 
used the intaglio ink and likes it.  I have used the black intaglio ink for 
solarplate and thought it left too much plate tone yet was not dark enough 
black for my taste, but she has changed the formula since that time.  One 
thing that Susan told me was that you can mix her intaglio with the Akua 
Kolor, you might want to try this if you want other colors, as the Akua Kolor 
comes in a wider variety of colors.

Subject: [Baren 20785] Inks and barens 

Dear all,

  The barens I recently ordered from the Baren Mall have arrived much sooner
than I expected! Now, I have a confession to make...I'm a wee bit
intimidated. Yes Dear Lyon, somewhere in the dim interior of what passes for
my mind, I was aware that it would be necessary to rewrap them in (gulp!)
new sheaves someday. The full meaning of this gradually became apparent when
I first took them from their protective shipping boxes and examined them,
marveling at their beauty and craftsmanship, upon which this scenario
occurred: "Whatever made me think I was up to this challenge!?" she cried .
" It'll be all right", replied her interior monitor, "When the time comes,
there is always the advice and comfort of the Forum and the Baren Archives,
and has not the DAVE posted those helpful pics and directions in that same
Encyclopedia?"  "Ok", she said, as she gradually calmed down, "I'll think
about it tomorrow!" {Fade to 'Theme from tara'...)

On another note if anyone has used the Dan Smith waterbased printing inks
(the colors, not the black) for Hanga, I would appreciate any feedback from
them. And before I forget to mention it, the box the Murasaki baren came in
is exquisite! Wrapped in one of my favorite Washi. (a luminous blue), it is
a treasure in itself-and yes, I read not to keep the baren in that box
,closed tight, after I begin to use it.
