Baren Digest Sunday, 7 July 2002 Volume 20 : Number 1889 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: G Wohlken Date: Sat, 06 Jul 2002 10:56:21 -0400 Subject: [Baren 18649] Opening of ST/EP Show Opening Night! You will be happy to know that our work was heartily admired, (one woman who studied the show a long time suggested that the theme of Sacred Trees and Endangered Species would make a beautiful book with each artist telling about their print on the opposing page). I was told by several of the park staff this was one of the most attractive shows they have shown in their gallery. Jean Eger Womack, your little pegasus drew some attention and positive comments, especially from women. The visitors all were charmed by the idea of print exchanges. I talked it up, showed carved boards and the progression from woodcut to magazine cover. Many questions, a night of teaching and showing. I loved it and was proud of all of us. This was the perfect space for these prints; congratulations, everyone! Many thanks for all of the work that it takes to put on such an exhibit. Wish I could be there to see it!!!! Thank you for your efforts. On the KC 2003 gathering, we are still anxiously awaiting suggestions from those of you planning to attend about things you would like there. If you are on the fence, we would also like to hear from you, please. Some issues for discussion: formal week-long workshop with step by steps? demos? daily "classes" covering different moku-hanga facets? whatever? What say you? Before you toss moldy paper try dabbing or spraying different dilutions of Clorox and water on the wrong side of the paper. It has worked on watercolor paper. Are we required to print with the hanga technique only? I'm an oily/press person. Just like to know. Hi, Philip, Exchange #14 and the #14.5 salon are both relief prints that don't require Moku-hanga. If you have signed up for the exchange, you can do 'oily' for this exchange. Exchange #15 will be Moku-hanga but sign-up hasn't opened yet. See for exchange information. Best wishes! This is the missing watercolor which I'd like to get back. It's only 4 in. x 6 in. But it is the study for my latest woodcut. Thanks. http://www.jeaneger.com/watercolor/RoyalArchesII.html Jean ------------------------------ From: "Jean Womack" Date: Sat, 6 Jul 2002 22:45:15 -0700 Subject: [Baren 18659] Re: Baren Digest V20 #1888 Oh, God, I can't stop writing. Charles, I very much enjoyed having Poe in the same room while working on prints. I thought of him as Raven himself--the Raven of the Pacific Northwest Coast Indians. I wonder if Jim Dine's Crow is Raven, or Poe? Surely he would have come back if he was hungry. Did After 5 die?
