Baren Digest Saturday, 1 June 2002 Volume 19 : Number 1847 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "PHARE-CAMP,PATTI (HP-USA,ex1)" Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 07:55:15 -0700 Subject: [Baren 18210] RE: Baren Digest V19 #1846 I am trying to print a lavender color on top of a green background...SNIP... Marco: if you're working with water base mediums you may want to try acrylic paint. Straight from the tube it has just enough viscosity, dries opaque and is archival if you buy GOOD paint. Golden, Windsor Newton and Liquitex all have professional lines, but don't use the high viscosity paints. Let us know how it turns out and what the best method was. Talens makes good product but it is not in the same league as Graham. His is made with honey and is so densely pigmented that you can paint it on a block, let it dry, mist it a week later, and it still prints wonderfully. Plus, it is a very small company in Oregon with 4 employees so people actually touch the product:) Yours Robert ------------------------------ From: Charles Morgan Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 06:32:03 -0700 Subject: [Baren 18212] Re: Wooblock printmaking book Hello Minna, I have subscribed to Printmaking Today and to Contemporary Impressions. Printmaking Today was very fast, and I have already received my first issue. The discussion of shows and galleries is largely centered on Great Britain, which is fair enough, the magazine being printed there. Some of the discussion is interesting nonetheless, because they frequently include reproductions of some of the prints being discussed. In fact, the large number of color reproductions of prints makes the magazine quite inspiring, judging from the one issue. I was persuaded to try it because it seems to be one of the primary outlets for articles on new techniques, by people like Nik Semenoff (sp??). Contemporary Impressions was also quick to let me know they had my cheque, and that I had made an error on the subscription form!!! It was very good of them to get back to me so quickly. I have not yet received a copy, so I cannot comment on the content. Once again I want to thank everyone who made suggestions and gave me their comments. Cheers ........
