It can be found in varous colors, I like white if i find it. I used to have a whole roll of it but can't find it that way any more???? It is a bit better than regular carbon paper for transfering designs. I perfer to use the carbon tracing method over others i have been taught. Oh try a craft store for seral tracing paper. Jeanne it has been a saga listening to your studio disaster, so happy you are about to get a new one, yeah!!!! marilynn ------------------------------ From: Artsmadis@aol.com Date: Sat, 20 Apr 2002 12:15:14 EDT Subject: [Baren 17905] Re: page cannot be fou In a message dated 4/20/02 1:24:05 AM Central Daylight Time, indian.girl@luukku.com writes: << By the way, I tried to explore how to add pictures to baren-page, with ftp, but it did'nt work at all. For Internet Explorer, if you have one of the later versions, it has a repair tool. You go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, pick out Internet Explorer from the list, then click Add/Remove and you will be offered a choice to repair it. It is wonderful for transfers. The plastic sheets transmit a nice crisp line, the ink comes off dark but doesn't jump onto everthing else that it comes into contact with, and like a ballpoint pen marks the lines are waterproof as well. The problem is that I have no idea what I've got and am running out of what I have! There are brand names on the sheets although there is a graphic pattern of dots on the back side. Has anyone else seen this stuff and can you help me find more??? Thanks- - Brian - ------------------------------ From: barebonesart Date: Sat, 20 Apr 2002 11:24:45 -0700 Subject: [Baren 17907] Re: Baren Digest V19 #1804 Julio, My favorite way to transfer a drawing to the block is to do the drawing first on tracing paper. I paint the block with watercolor, dark blue or purple are my choice, then place the tracing paper on the block, invert the drawing and follow it using color pencil which makes it very easy to see and you don't accidentally leave a section, or important line out. If you use the white or any light color carbon paper you will be able to see your drawing adequately. Voila, no trip to the copy center or computer, and less time spent copying the drawing from one surface to another. It is yet another variation on a theme :>) Jeanne - congratulations on getting your studio up and running so quickly. I am submerged in total envy, as we are still in building mode. The pay as you go plan is very slow.....................but, I am totally celebrating for you! You must be dancing in the street and I am with you - Ta ra ra boom te yea! April, your show is wonderful and you are always an inspiration. I've got that book Julio! Transfering a drawing to the block is cheating no matter which way you do it. [;-)] I draw directly on to the block with pen/brush and drawing ink. That way you don't lose the gestural quality of the marks. In case you are wondering, I reverse the image in the preliminary sketch, where appropriate. One could argue, for instance, that the gestural strength of a woodblock is not in the drawing but in the cutting and that it's one thing to draw and another to make a woodblock. In this understanding of the woodcut, how you transfer the drawing to the block isn't an important issue.
