Are any of you Barenforumers sending work to this? > Welcome to Baren, Louise. If it's your wish to learn about woodblock printmaking, you are in the right place. We have some knowledgeable people who hang out here and all you have to do is ask a question (or consult the encyclopedia) and you will be amazed at what you can find out! You asked if any Bareners are sending a print--yes, I have a print packaged and ready to mail to the Print Alliance project. You certainly do have to copy out (or read them with care) all the instructions as there are specifics that must be met (such as a catalogue number on the back of your print, and an enclosed dollar, etc), so if people are sending a print, please read all the instructions at the Print Alliance website http://www.printalliance.org/exhibits/sept_11_memorial/memorial_portfolio.html and I hope I didn't forget anything when I packed my print. Just wanted to let you know that in addition to cleaning up with baby oil, which is relatively expensive, you can also use whatever vegetable oil happens to be on sale. Also, clean up after the oil with rubbing alcohol - it cuts the grease in an instant. I keep a bottle of alcohol velcroed to the side of the press for getting those inevitable, no matter how careful you are, smudges off the bed. Because I'm inherently lazy, I put a push-pull cap off of a detergent bottle on the alcohol bottles so I can just pop the top and squirt the juice. Printmaking is labor intensive enough without making it more so. However, if you REALLY want to work you can always do hanga :>) Sharri ------------------------------ From: "Lee and Barbara Mason" Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2002 16:10:09 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16794] Print Alliance Memorial Portfolio Hi printmakers, Here I am again, harassing you! We really need prints for the American Print Alliance Memorial, one 8x10 vertical print that celebrates one life lost in the 9/11/01 tragedy. So far I have only 4 from our group of over 200 artists. See http://www.printalliance.org/exhibits/sept_11_memorial/memorial_portfolio.ht ml for more information. Send your form, $1 and print to me and I will scan it, package it and send it on to the Alliance. This is an oppportunity to be part of an important memorial tribute and it only takes one print. I am sure you have one already done you can use if you think about it. Send to Barbara Mason 4440 SW 198th Aloha OR 97007 This exhibit will travel around the US, get lots of press and eventually find a home in an impressive institution, so you are missing an opportunity here if you do not send a print. This could be your mother talking ...... It needs to be 8x10 vertical and any print media is acceptable. Send to me with downloaded form and $1 for the packaging. The link I gave might have been too long, sometimes the browser cuts part of it out and it won't work.
