You must be very special to feel so much for your little kitten instead of the grief of loosing so much work. Sorry to say I have not been printmaking long enough to have all these duplicate suppies to share. But how about my number 12 print? I know you can not send one to me but maybe it would lift your spirits if those of us who wished sent off any extras?? Your address again and i will do that for you. Not that this will make you feel any better, but one of my best friends had her house burn down almost three years ago, and she had produced some of the best artwork of her career since then. Much of the work was inspired by the fire. Barbara, you met her, that was my friend Katie that I took to your house when you had that great weekend printmaking get-together a while back. Anyhow, they say that what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.... As an aside, my internet provider had some ugly bankruptcy issues going on, so my email was randomly changed a month or so ago. I hopefully fixed everything on the baren end, but my apologies if anyone was having to deal with the volume of bounced baren emails. ------------------------------ From: "Lee and Barbara Mason" Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2002 09:12:06 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16653] fund for Jeanne Dear Friends, This just in, in reply to an email I sent to Dean Clark at Graphic Chemical. So if anyone wants to add to this account, email to Dean at GraphChem@aol.com and he will add your money to the fund. We will have Jeanne back in business in no time! And Dean, you are so generous with printmakers we would never think you had any ulterior motives! If you want to send an envelope, the address for Graphic Chemical is 728 North Yale Avenue Villa Park, IL 60181 USA Ph. 1-800-465-7382 Fax 630-832-6064 Best to the best bunch of printmakers in the world, Barbara From: GraphChem@aol.com To: bemason@concentric.net Sent: Monday, January 07, 2002 6:31 AM Subject: Re: Fund for Jeanne Barbara - Yes, we can set up a gift certificate account. In fact I have already e-mailed Jeanne asking what GCI can do to get her back up and running. If Baren members want to present Jeanne with a gift certificate, we'd be thrilled to help out. I will add to the donations from Baren members as well as donating materials etc. This is a tragic situation, but one that - surprisingly - happens every once in a while. We had one about three-four years ago with a University print lab burning down, and I just heard about one (another school) a few months ago. It might be better if you posted the info to the Baren group. I don't want to make it look like we're trying to capitalize on someone's misfortune. Thanks for your concern for Jeanne and your willingness to help. Dean ------------------------------ From: "Jeanne N. While transferring my mail over to my new computer some of the letters were deleted. Jeanne ------------------------------ From: ReadDevine@aol.com Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2002 23:57:55 EST Subject: [Baren 16655] Phoenix Although we are only internet names to each other, I really empathise with your loss Jeanne. We have just been through 2 weeks of bushfires where I live (and in many other parts around Sydney, some still burning), and thank God we are unscathed. When I thought about what I might take if we were evacuated - apart from my family (including four legged) I was at a complete loss when it came to my art room, and my collection of books. It seemed preferable to take nothing instead of having to choose. I walked around my own studio and wondered what I would take if I could only take a small amount, and it was daunting. We have years of stuff, some of it junk but some of it irreplacable. I guess I would take my tools, they are small and portable. One of the good things about learning hanga or linoblock is you can do it anywhere with very little stuff! So here's to tools! Best to all, Barbara .
