Baren Digest Saturday, 31 March 2001 Volume 14 : Number 1374 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Kim Medina Date: Fri, 30 Mar 2001 01:42:04 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Baren 14084] Re: Baren Digest v14 #1372 Hey to all, I'm not new to Baren but have been offline for quite a while. Only recently have I got back on, and it's great to be reading messages from Baren again! Everyone is still busy as usual, chatting, chiding, debating....... I plan to participate in the next exchange, opening up in a couple of days. I'm posting today mainly to assist one of my students in locating printmaking Harvey Ball. I don't think he is a member of Baren but with such diverse backgrounds, I thought one of you would know his email address, at least. My student saw his prints in a book I had, and she wants to contact him regarding his subject matter. Thanks in advance. I missed the SGC conference. Did anyone attend and can you give me a compressed synopsis? Thanks much Kim Medina Tucson, Arizona ===== http://www.angelfire.com/biz/topcogsdesign "I can't change the world, but I can change the world in me." - U2 ------------------------------ From: =?iso-8859-1?q?dimitris=20grammatikopulos?= Date: Fri, 30 Mar 2001 03:49:33 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Baren 14085] The Snake Song........and the Little Pony I was lying dead on the table when I drew my image and it looked the corrected size in the perspective...8-)))))))))))))))) Scissors would be fine, thank you. I've used it for big prints, and it works pretty well, as it's a stiffer paper and doesn't dip into the non-printing areas. It comes in a variety of sizes (including VERY big!) and is very cheap. You'll have to press very hard w/your baren - if you can get a ball bearing baren, you'd have a much easier time. You might also try Hanga-shi paper from Hiromi, I think it comes pretty big but I'm not sure. good luck Sarah ------------------------------ From: barebonesart Date: Fri, 30 Mar 2001 16:16:21 -0800 Subject: [Baren 14087] Re: Baren Digest v14 #1373 Jeanne, I doubt there is much you can do to make your oil painting pigments into relief inks, however - have you thought about doing a monotype using your oil pigments, and printing your block over it? Works great and you can get some really awesome results. You can print your block onto a piece of acetate and then reverse it under your plexi, that you do the monotype on, so everything will be going the same direction. I think that is understandable, but if not - let me know and I'll try again :>) Happy printing, Sharri ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest v14 #1374 *****************************
