To all those who make snakes I thank you for your cards!!!!  I just got back
from a December break and it was great to recieve all of those wonderful
prints.  I will send mine out this weekend.  I do have to print more though
for the list GREW!!!  since I left.  Anyways. . . .  . .

Hope everyone had a great New Year and I promise to be a little more active
on the forum now with a clear head and mind.

This is great, Mike. I *hate* burning those horse hair brushes! The next brushes
I get I will try this method on them! It must have been fun to get together to
work on brushes!

There are some really nice 'maru-bake' brushes in the mall right now. The
'Sosaku' brushes. Dave brought some of them to "boot camp" last year & I bought 3
of them. Not quite as inexpensive as shoe brushes, but they are *very* nice to
use. Not as stiff as the horsehair Maru-bake, but very usable without a lot of
preparation work. In looking at the page for Matsumura's brushes, I see some of
the professional grade are available already burned & treated on the sharkskin.
Those look really nice, too. 

It is going to be *so* nice to have all of these materials available at the
start-up of the computer. 

I hope all of you will go take a look when you get a moment.

there is glycerin in akua kolor but if you are printing from a plexy plate it 
will not release as fully and your print will be lighter, yes you do need the 
glycerin or soap.    sorrry not a wood cutters comment.  i do not know about 
using it for wood yet.

'giclee' is French for spray (as in inkjet), and has a second (slang) 
meaning, to ejaculate, or shoot one's wad.  I think that about sums it up

Yeah, Michelle, I agree, commercial printed lithos are a huge rip off.  ( I
work for a commercial Lithographer)  Giclee is such a young science,
however, and it keeps improving and growing.  It is sort of complex, the
combinations of pigment or die based inks and what type of paper or canvas
you use can all cause the lifespan of a print to vary.  But, there are some
combinations that result in a lifespan of 50 - 75 years.  And that is under
extreme lighting conditions that almost no print would have to endure.
There is a company doing testing on this type of print now.  You can visit
their website @ http://www.wilhelm-research.com/ .  It is interesting to me
as an artist/printmaker to see these types of tests being done.  I am glad
to see that someone is making an effort to be sure these things are quality,
and not just garbage.  Now commercial lithos... pretty much garbage.  : )
