Have any of you seen the "Art on Paper" magazine? The September/October 2000 issue? There is a 2 page (mostly artspeak) blurb on the artist Neil Welliver. And it is *HANGA*! It says he prints in the ukiyo-e style & uses the Philadelphia printer: Shigemitsu Tsukaguchi. Everyone at school is just raving over the print they show in the magazine- trying to figure out how he did it, etc. I took one look at it & said: Hmmm Japanese Woodblock! It is quite beautiful, though. And large! Something like 42" x 35". If you can get your hands on this magazine, it's sure worth a look. They do have a website http://www.artonpaper.com/sept-00/proof.html but, unfortunately, this particular print is not on it. Interesting magazine - - I had not seen it before. Take a look. Anyone else working hanga this big? I remember Sarah saying something about a *big* dog print. How big Sarah? Thanks for 'coming out of the closet' and introducing yourself. Nice to have still another very experienced printmaker here. New England and the Atlantic seaboard sure does seem to be 'where it's at' as far as woodblock work in the US goes ... how many members do we have now from up there - dozens I think. > ... sell my prints from $ 35 - $125-- thats the going market > here and i do well in the summer, but it drops away in october til next > july. This price range seems to be about what Matt Brown over in New Hampshire was doing I think. But why the drop-off in October? Isn't there a good run-up to the Xmas season over there? > ... hoping that the internet will give me a new outlet We're all looking forward to seeing some examples of your work ... I guess we are just not signing on with the right galleries! That is pretty fantastic, isn't it? Thanks Sharen & John, for pointing out these other pages.
