Sorry for the lateness but I seemed to have developed some problems with my arms and shoulders that made doing anything artist not only painful but clumsy. I had to resort to a non-tradition method of getting this swap completed but I hope no one will mind very much. I waited until I had my works done to open all the Dragons that I have received so far. (I didn't want to chicken out!) I took the whole bundle of envelopes over to my daughter's house and we opened them all and passed them around for everyone to see and ooooh and ahhh over. It was like Christmas in February. I want to tell you all how thrilled we were with each and every print that came into my mailbox. (And part of the fun was seeing all the different countries that were represented!) It was wonderfully enlightening to see how everyone interpreted the theme and produced the print. I will treasure these always since it looks like my time in printmaking may be coming to an end even before it got truly started. I hope you will like my humble effort as much as I liked all of yours..... - -giselle ------------------------------ From: ArtfulCarol@aol.com Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2000 09:33:04 EST Subject: [Baren 8535] Re: Baren Digest V10 #912 Gayle: Got your nice site fast and clear. Thanks for nice comments. Josephine I don't know why 50 percent of them didn't download for you. They take a little time, then they are suddenly there. I know of one time when one image didn't download for me, but the icon was there where an image should have been, and when I clicked on it, the image popped up fine. Wanda, you asked about the image "needle scratching in wood" and yes, that indeed was my James Mundie experiment. I had drawn a little portrait of Jim and used him for the image. However, it doesn't look that much like him. I enjoyed working with the needle, but I guess according to James it works better to use pine instead of poplar, and I did use poplar. I have finally proofed the print I have been carving the last week or so. It is Australian Wildflowers and can be seen at http://www.acay.com.au/~severn/temporar.htm I am dedicating it to Julio and Gregory. This bouquet originated from one of my #5 ideas which was to make a print with the national flower of each of the baren member countries. I may do that print yet ... I also finished the Junin Toiro page and it is now uploaded at http://www.acay.com.au/~severn/junin.htm *Warning* those of you in the exchange who want to be surprised by the real thing are advised not to go here yet. It has images of the exchange print on it. I just couldnt wait to share these prints with you all. I especially liked all the information so we could see your thought process in arriving at the designs. Very nice job. Of course I could not resist seeing a new print, so will not be surprised, but that is OK, the real print will look different than the computer image, so that will be surprise enough. I am starting computer classes in photoshop and front page in March, so hope to have a web page up there soon! Well, maybe before the end of the year, wouldn't want to rush into anything.
