Thank you Dave - very much appreciated - all that was entirely clear - I'll have a look on their home page and compare with your item price list and e:mail them - - I will send International Money Order as you suggest. aragato and regards Barnaby ------------------------------ From: David Bull Date: Thu, 25 Nov 1999 18:02:04 +0900 Subject: [Baren 6813] Re: Wanda gets pasted again ... Wanda wrote: > Dave, do you mean double the amount of paste? Or double of everything? Well, it's hard to answer that, because Graham's original comment about the pigment was simply '3 to 4 dabs of pigment'. Figuring out the amount of paste is sometimes difficult, because you can't really _see_ it, but the pigment balance is much easier. Not much on the block, and the colour is too faint - a lot on the block and the colour is thicker and richer. The decision is up to you ... > I have also tried your suggestion to mix the paste & pigment > in a separate container & _then_ brush it on the block. Me? Mix the paste and pigment together in a separate container? Did I say that? For 'normal' printing I never do this - it is just too difficult to adjust the balance once you are running. About the only time when I ever do something like this is when I want a tint so light that it is almost invisible in the finished print. Then I use just paste ... but paste with ever so small an amount of pigment mixed into it. *** John asked: > I finally have time to listen to that new interview with the > ... author of the book on woodcut. Well, it's not a conversation with the author himself (Frank Morley-Fletcher), but with his nephew (who is now in his mid-80s) ... You can find it by going to the Library section of the Encyclopedia and selecting the book by Morley-Fletcher. You will see the interview link near the Table of Contents section ... Getting that Encyclopedia properly indexed is a mountainous task that I'm just not up to at the moment ... Give me an 'intern' for a few months, and we could maybe get something done on this! *** Barnaby wrote: > A friend of mine from Australia had a brush company in Sydney make up > some brushes for him to specification, which worked out relatively > cheaply buying in bulk. This sounds most interesting ... can you expand on this please? Dave ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V9 #796 ***************************
