My wife took undergraduate intaglio printmaking from him. I believe he is about to retire. It would be nice if we could get a few of the Baren people together at the opening!!! I have made a complimentary one for each of you attending the workshop. After several methods I solved the gluing down the skins. Stretched them when wet and tacked them down with staples. Staples alone would not work as the skin need support overall. When the skin was dry, I removed it from the board and then with contact cement glued it down to a varnished board. Works like a whistle now. Were humming now by golly. cya Graham Motto for the Workshop ***** If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished. ------------------------------ From: Jack Reisland Date: Mon, 14 Jun 1999 16:37:46 +0000 Subject: [Baren 4656] Re: Shark shark shark...... They range from 12" x 5" down to 10" x 3" A local fisherman saved me the biggest of the days catch. The biggest shark was 30" nose to tail. Mine is in that larger range, but the grain runs the short way, side to side. Do you suppose that it matters? It may take longer to prepare your brush as you would have to take more strokes being it is short. I'm sure it will do fine. I haven't yet done much work on my brushes but will get a serious session this week. Graham It struck me now that that must have been one big shark.... the 12" is the vertical side of the shark. Wow. ------------------------------ From: Jack Reisland Date: Mon, 14 Jun 1999 22:07:57 +0000 Subject: [Baren 4661] Re: Shark shark shark...... Here in Hawaii they throw the 30 inch sharks back .
